What's on in Kent this August Bank Holiday
Things to do in and around Lenham this weekend
Summer looks like it's ready to stick around for a bit longer, we hope the forecasters are right this time! In anticipation of a glorious few days to be out and about, we thought we'd share some of the great things going on in Kent this coming weekend.
Outdoor Theatre Experience, Leeds Castle
If you're a fan of the theatre and looking for something to do with the (grand)children, why not head to Leeds Castle. Just ten minutes from Lenham, 'the loveliest castle in the world' is playing host to an open air theatre, featuring Alice in Wonderland. Watch their faces light up at this colourful, musical family fun show and then explore the gardens and scenery the castle itself has to offer.
Ice Cream Festival, Kent Life
Usually when you think of festivals, you think of fans screaming along to their favourite bands - well Kent Life is offering Ice Creams instead! With over 20 different flavours to try, you'll also have the opportunity to cover them in all sorts of toppings. And when the adults need something to wash it all down, they're setting up a Pimm's bar in the Village Green. But don’t worry if you are a fan that loves to scream at festivals, there will also be plenty of live mooosic being performed on the 'Dairy Stage', so you can get your kicks there. 18 minutes from Lenham.
Military Odyssey, Detling
If history if your thing, then Detling Show Ground will be hosting an array of military groups from across the globe. With over 4,000 re-enactors, and history enthusiasts in attendance. There will be plenty to see and do. With 250 stalls, 200 vehicles and 2 arenas in addition to the main battlefield - where you will be able to witness scenes covering 2,000 years of history. From Romans and Vikings, all the way through to WW1 and WW11, right up to the present day. Supporting Help for Heroes & The Royal British Legion, this event is sure to be unique and of interest for all ages with plenty to see and learn. 18 minutes from Lenham.
The Kent Country Show at Quex Park, Birchington
From falconry displays to horseback stunts performed by the man behind the trick riding in Poldark and Game of Thrones. The Kent Country Show has something to offer for everyone. If you like your food, then there will be cookery demonstrations as well as plenty of local producers with their wares to sample and purchase. Also at the show is the Festival of Dogs. With agility classes, training, displays and dog behaviourists all on site - it means it's a day out for furry family members too. 40 minutes from Lenham.
